WALKING FOOTBALL KICKS OFF IN SÃO BRÁS
Under a clear blue sky eighteen mature players put their best feet forward as São Brás de Alportel welcomed its first ever Walking Football session for those over 50 years of age.
This is a slow version of the beautiful game with no running on or off the ball; minimal contact, no slide tackling or tackling from behind. For the newcomers it was definitely a case of self discipline as the natural reaction is to break into a jog!
Thanks to the efforts of Alex Moreira and Ian Lowe and with the support of the Câmara Municipal de São Brás de Alportel, the first-class facilities at the Campos de Jogos Municipal astroturf pitch in Rua João de Deus will host the sessions every Tuesday morning from 9.30 to 11.30 am. There is no regular commitment required so visitors, as well as local residents, are more than welcome to join in; just turn up and play.
